AUDIO WINDOW

JAGUAR PRO ONLY

AUDIO WINDOW can be used for fine tuning the audio output: tuning filter offset and edge, tuning automatic notches and adding/tuning manual notches. You can see the effect of any change made in the audio frequency spectrum shown in the window. Also all the AUDIOBAR and AUDIO applet tools can be used simultaneously.

AUDIO WINDOW has the following characteristics:

- Fixed window height -- This height can be customized with [CUSTOM] parameter AUDIOH=xxx (130 < xxx pixels < 250)
- Audio frequencies are visible up to 8000Hz (depends on the x-resolution of your monitor)
- If your audio output sampling rate is WAV8, your max audio frequency is 4000Hz (WAV10: max 5000Hz)
- Audio frequencies 0-500Hz are extended (male & female speech fundamental frequency areas are shown)
- AUDIO WINDOW can be used seeing the effect of both raw audio (filter) changes and post-processing changes ...
- ... so AUDIO WINDOW can be used in LIVE / ARCHIVE / LOOP / CLIPPER modes
- GUI is based on flags: the leftmost framed flag is the OFFSET, the rightmost framed flag is the filter EDGE (=OFFSET+BW)
- Each active notch has is shown as a smaller "notch flag"
- If the user has NOTCH ON (autonotch is activated), there are 1-2 notch flags visible by default

HOW TO

AUDIO WINDOW can be opened in three ways:

* By clicking ( AUDIO ) button on AUDIOBAR
* By pressing J key for "JAGASS" (both AUDIO WINDOW and TURTLE are opened)
* By pressing SPACEBAR, if SETTINGS > PREFERENCES > SPACEBAR: JAGASS is activated
- in this case spacebar creates a loop, opens AUDIO WINDOW and TURTLE simultaneously

AUDIO WINDOW can be closed repeating the function which opened it.

AUDIO WINDOW supports the following functions:

OFFSET TUNING

If you move mouse cursor over OFFSET pole, red "LEFT" flag is shown
- In this mode you can shift the OFFSET position using mouse wheel or left/right arrow keys, or just simply dragging the "LEFT" pole to a new position with mouse
- Note that if you move the OFFSET position, the filter bw does no change (meaning that the filter EDGE is moved correspondingly)

EDGE TUNING

If you move mouse cursor over filter EDGE pole, red "RIGHT" flag is shown
- In this mode you can shift the EDGE position using mouse wheel or left/right arrow keys, or just simply dragging the "RIGHT" pole to a new position with mouse
- Note that if you move the EDGE position, the filter bw is changed (while OFFSET position remains unchanged)

NOTCHING

A new notch can be set by clicking the area. Default notch covers 50Hz span
If you move mouse cursor over any notch pole, red "NOTCH" flag is shown
- In this mode you can increase/decrease the notch size using mouse wheel or left/right arrow keys
- If you left click the red "NOTCH" flag, you can relocate the notch pole position on the audio spectrum ("notch fine tune") using mouse wheel or left/right arrow keys
- If you right click the red "NOTCH" flag, the notch is deleted

You can define max 20 manual notches.

GAIN

- If the mouse cursor is not on any flagpole, mouse wheel scroll (or left/arrow keys) increase/decrease GAIN

This is the simplest possible GUI for analyzing/modifying the output audio frequencies in detail: all flagpoles can be changed by mouse wheel (or left/right arrow keys). Note that you can scroll the filter OFFSET and EDGE also past the screen borders.

The leftmost AUDIOBAR button (=normally WAV xx selection) can be used for audio RESET in audio window. RESET restores all the settings changed in audio window to the status which existed when you initially opened the audio window. If you change audio settings and do not click RESET before closing the audio window, you will continue listening using those new trimmed settings.
