HI and LO NOISE filters are special filters which can be used to modify audio output background. LO NOISE filter eliminates hum/"rumbling"/carrier waves, HI NOISE filter eliminates treble. These can be set on/off directly from STATUSBAR.

Sometimes if LO NOISE is enabled we can get a remarkable improvement in the audio quality, filtering out all the low-frequency audio artefacts and providing a crystal-clear background behind the speech. Also, if there are any empty carriers on the selected frequency, LO NOISE removes them totally and a "full audio world" is revealed - otherwise in this kind of case everything could be buried behind the dominating empty carrier.

On the other hand HI NOISE filter cleans up higher audio frequencies - also STEEP mode in filters (see STEEP help for more details) can be used for that. Both HI NOISE and STEEP modify the "colour" of the background noise and can clean up artefacts from audio frequencies.

User can not only hear the difference when LO / HI NOISE is activated, but also see it when AUDIO WINDOW is open (more details in AUDIO WINDOW help).

HOW TO


LO NOISE filter can be activated by clicking the "LO" area on the left edge of the STATUSBAR. When LO NOISE filter is active, the colour of "LO" is red.

HI NOISE filter can be activated by clicking the "HI" area on the right edge of the STATUSBAR. When HI NOISE filter is active, the colour of "HI" is red.

These filters can also be triggered on/off clicking the corresponding buttons on the AUDIO APPLET (see APPLETS for more details).
