Offset detection/monitoring plays a
remarkable role in modern MW DXing ("eyes have become as important as ears in
MW DXing"). Jaguar has several builtin tools for collecting exact offset
information on the AM dial supporting 24x7 offset history collection for all
MW10 or MW9 frequencies. The results can be used as a platform to analyze the
frequencies and jump directly to the "hot spots" when such are found.
Offset detection/monitoring is implemented in the Jaguar SCAN SUBSYSTEM which
is always available in the background. SCAN SUBSYSTEM can be used in AUTOMATIC
and MANUAL modes.
(( AUTOMATIC SCAN SERVICES ))
• HOMESCAN: If selected, JAGUAR plots a "spectrum preview" on the HOME
screen when the frequency is changed. The default scan interval ("SPEED") is 60
seconds, and the user can customise this interval between 2 seconds (the best
resolution, the slowest speed) and 60 seconds (a sparse resolution, the fastest
speed).
• AUTOSCAN: If selected, JAGUAR creates an automatic offset analysis for
all the MW frequencies (using a stepping of 9 kHz or 10 kHz, or a VFO stepping,
based on your location and/or preferences). The speed and time range can be
customised. AUTOSCAN is not related to recordings in any way.
• MONITOR: If selected, JAGUAR creates an automatic frequency analysis for
the selected MW frequency, and the speed and time range are user-defined.
Producing the same output as for AUTOSCAN, MONITOR can be used to yield a very
detailed resolution for one particular frequency. MONITOR uses its own,
efficient independent SCAN process with a minimal CPU load.
(( MANUAL SCAN SERVICES ))
MANUAL SCAN can be used in ARCHIVE mode for collecting offset history from the
recorded data.
