TOMCAT is a huge logging archive covering Scandinavian (Finland / Sweden / Norway) loggings. Results can be filtered by continent, country where logged and the year (loggings since 2***) and the sort order of the result can be either DATE (descending) or ITU (ascending). TOMCAT database is located in Kapsi server and the logging data is updated periodically by our team.
In the example below TOMCAT log query is made based on the following criteria: "SHOW loggings made in FIN (Finland) SINCE 2017 ON 1390 and SORT the results BY DATE". The results are shown in full screen mode (see TEXTSCREEN help for more details).
TOMCAT is online database so the Internet connection is required.
You can activate TOMCAT from the DATABASE BAR: click the SLIDER button so that you'll get the standard database window and the DATABASE BAR visible. Normally you'll see your current TURTLE name (TURTLE-YYYY-MM) in the middle of the bar. Move mouse cursor over that area and you'll see TURTLE and TOMCAT buttons => click TOMCAT button to activate TOMCAT.
TOMCAT shows Finnish and Norwegian MW DX loggings loaded from OLL ("Online Log"). TOMCAT uses a shadow copy of the real OLL, the copy is updated a couple of times a year. Swedish loggings are taken from ARC MV-Eko.
Most of the loggings are not in English but they are certainly still very useful: many loggings contain ID transcriptions which are often helpful when trying to identify weak stations.
In addition, TOMCAT loggings can be translated to English. If you click a logging, a popup window appears with text (( TRANSLATE ? )). If you reply "YES", the logging will be translated using your favorite browser and the Google translator.
On the DATABASE BAR you'll find query filter buttons, consisting of the following:
• CONTINENT buttons: Select the target continent for the loggings (WORLD = show all)
• FIN / SWE / NOR / ALL: Select Finnish / Swedish / Norwegian / All loggings
• SINCE YEAR: Limit the results to consist only of the loggings starting from the selected year
• ON FREQUENCY: Fixed for the currently-played frequency
• SORT BY: Sort the loggings by time (BY DATE) or by country (BY ITU)
Whenever you modify any of the query filters or tune to another MW frequency, the result set is refreshed immediately.
You can return back to standard TURTLE mode by clicking TURTLE button on the DATABASE BAR.
