TURTLE
TURTLE is the MW station database used in
Jaguar. New TURTLE version is published monthly, TURTLE database itself is a
standard text file named as "TURTLE-YYYY-MM.txt". By default Jaguar
installation package includes the first TURTLE to start with, but users can
download the latest monthly database whenever needed. TURTLE databases are
saved in TURTLE folder within the Jaguar installation folder.
TURTLE database is based on MWLI data, but our team adds important
format/slogan/network information to US/CAN stations. This added up-to-date
information is crucial for NA DXers.
TURTLE is one of the cornerstones of Jaguar: all the station locations on MAPS
and logging function is based on TURTLE.
HOW TO
Default TURTLE is included in the full
installation package but it can be outdated at the time of the installation.
You can always upgrade your TURTLE with these simple steps:
1) Open SLIDER (or use T for full TEXTSCREEN) => you'll see DATABASE BAR and
the name of your current TURTLE database.
1) Move mouse over the TURTLE database name => you'll see TURTLE and TOMCAT
buttons.
1) Click TURTLE button => you'll get a small popup menu. Click "DOWNLOAD
LATEST" => the latest TURTLE version is installed automatically as your
current new TURTLE database.
Sometimes you may need to activate an older version of TURTLE (=> select
"LOAD FROM DISK" on that popup menu): for example if you are studying
recordings recorded in 2019-01, it is logical to use TURTLE-2019-01 instead of
the latest TURTLE (or it is even better use TURTLE-2019-02, which contains the
2019-01 situation on the MW dial).
