AUDIOBAR

AUDIOBAR contains a set of buttons meant for quick finetuning of audio charateristics. If you need more tools and also want to see the exact effect of your changes in the audio frequency spectrum, you must open the AUDIO WINDOW.

When clicked, the buttons normally toggle/rotate the allowed values. In addition to changing values by mouse-clicking, you can also move the mouse over any button and scroll with the mouse wheel, or use the left/right arrow keys.

HOW TO

AUDIOBAR is always visible when JAGUAR is active, containing the following buttons:

AUDIO OUTPUT SAMPLING RATE

(( WAV 8 | WAV 16 | WAV 32 )) or (( WAV 10 | WAV 20 | WAV 40 ))

Select the sampling rate for the audio output: 8 / 16 / 32 kHz when the 1.6-MHz bandwidth is in use, or 10 / 20 / 40 kHz when the 2-MHz bandwidth is in use. There is no "best" sampling rate as user preferences vary. More about this in the AUDIO help.

CLICK REMOVER

(( CR OFF | CR xx ))

CLICK REMOVER - Toggle the Click Remover ON and OFF, or change the active ON level by scrolling between Low (CR LOW), Average (CR AVG), and High (CR HIGH). More about this in the CR and APPLETS > WAVE help.

AUTONOTCH

(( NOTCH ON | NOTCH OFF))

The NOTCH BUTTON enables/disables AUTONOTCH. JAGUAR offers a maximum of 20 manual notches, and they must be triggered in the AUDIO WINDOW. See the NOTCH help for more details about the AUTONOTCH funtion.

AGC

(( AGC ON | AGC OFF | AGC OFF+ ))

AGC (Automatic Gain Control): Rotate the AGC modes by left-clicking the mouse: AGC ON > AGC OFF > AGC OFF+. Scrolling will change the gain to the desired value and will set the mode to OFF (i.e. to the manual gain control). More info in the AGC help.

SSB

(( LSB | USB ))

SSB (Single-Side Band): Toggle the Lower Sideband (LSB) and Upper Sideband (USB). Not availabe if the AM MODE filter is selected.

CENTER BUTTONS (JAGUAR PRO)

(( LOWER FULLSCREEN ARROW ))

Triggers the full text screen (TURTLE / TOMCAT); no need to move the mouse to the top area.

(( AUDIO ))

The AUDIO WINDOW opens / closes advanced audio tools.

(( LOWER SPLIT SCREEN ARROW ))

Triggers a split text screen (TURTLE / TOMCAT); no need to move the mouse to the top area.

FILTER

(( STOCK | JAZZ | CALLIOPE | AM MODE ))

FILTER

Select the filter to be used: STOCK > JAZZ > CALLIOPE > AM MODE. The full range of filters is available only in JAGUAR PRO; in JAGUAR LITE, the only available filter is STOCK. More info in the FILTERS help.

FILTER CURVE

(( BASE | STEEP | STUDIO))

STEEP and STUDIO are the "power filter" modes. The BASE mode allows some audio frequencies to leak in from outside the offset/bandwidth range; the audio output is soft and sounds like an old tube radio. The STUDIO mode creates a "brickwall", eliminating low and high audio frequencies as can be seen in the AUDIO WINDOW; the audio output is harder and sounds more like a "scientific" SDR audio. Often you will get a better output from weak signals using the STEEP/STUDIO filter modes but some use also the BASE mode often.

BANDWIDTH

(( BW x.x ))

Select the filter bandwidth in the range of 1.0 to 8.0 kHz in the steps of 0.1 kHz. Available only in JAGUAR PRO; in JAGUAR LITE, the only available filter bandwidth is 3.0 kHz.

OFFSET

(( OFF x.x ))

Select the filter offset from DC (defaulted to 0.3 kHz). Available only in JAGUAR PRO; in JAGUAR LITE, the only available filter offset is 0.3 kHz.

PRESETS (JAGUAR PRO)

(( PRESETS | RESET | SAVE ))

By default, the PRESETS button can be used to rotate the pre-defined filter bandwidth/offset pairs. You can also override the functionality of this button via SETTINGS > AUDIOBAR > CUSTOM_BUTTON; the valid value are PRESETS | RESET | SAVE. RESET restores the default filter settings (or your favorite settings if you have enabled SETTINGS > AUDIOBAR > PLAYBACK_FILTER > FAVORITE). SAVE is useful if you have enabled SETTINGS > AUDIOBAR > PLAYBACK_FILTER > CUSTOM_FREQS.

JAGUAR incorporates 15 built-in filter presets (= bandwidth/offset pairs). The predefined list consists of the following bandwidth/offset pairs:

PRESET=2.0,0.3
PRESET=3.0,0.3
PRESET=4.0,0.3
PRESET=5.0,0.3
PRESET=6.0,0.3
PRESET=2.0,0.3
PRESET=3.0,0.0
PRESET=4.0,0.0
PRESET=5.0,0.0
PRESET=6.0,0.0
PRESET=2.0,-0.3
PRESET=3.0,-0.3
PRESET=4.0,-0.3
PRESET=5.0,-0.3
PRESET=6.0,-0.3

You can rotate the presets with the < and > keys, and also by hovering the mouse over the AUDIOBAR > PRESETS button and scrolling the mouse wheel, or with the left/right arrow keys, or by clicking/right-clicking on the button.
