SPECTOR

SPECTOR is the soul of JAGUAR, showing the signal strength on each exact frequency (offset). The SPECTOR display can look like a bunch of sharp needles or a "mountainous terrain", depending on the selected SPECTOR zoom level.

The calculated offset area is 500 Hz on both sides of the tuned frequency, and your SPECTOR span is limited only by the screen resolution. Consequently, on low-resolution monitors, it may not be possible for you to see the full 1-kHz span. Also, in any case, if you want to see beyond +/- 500 Hz, you must tune in to the adjacent frequency. Fortunately, there is only a handful of cases where offsets can be beyond this 500-Hz limit.

In addition to the SPECTOR zoom (increasing/decreasing the SPECTOR span), you can use the following optional features:

In the example below, the largest possible SPECTOR zoom level (GIANT SPECTOR, level 4) is in use. When using GIANT SPECTOR, you can see only a very small area around the nominal.

HOW TO

The SPECTOR size (span) can be adjusted by clicking TOOLBAR > SPECTOR ZOOM. Repeated clicks will rotate the size in the following order: SMALL > MEDIUM > LARGE > GIANT. The number (1-4) in the TOOLBAR > SPECTOR ZOOM icon shows the current zoom level.

The zoom level (span) can be also adjusted by moving the mouse over the bottom area of SPECTOR (making the red offset flag visible) and scrolling the mouse wheel and/or the left/right arrow keys. The area where the red offset flag is shown is called OFFSET BAR. By default, it is "virtual", but you can make it also visible with a gradient color (as in the example image) via SETTINGS > OFFSETS > OFFSET_BAR (JAGUAR PRO ONLY).

Offset markers can be added/edited/deleted by right-clicking the OFFSET BAR. More details available in GUIDE > OFFSETS.

Other SPECTOR display characteristics can be set via SETTINGS > SPECTOR (see SETTINGS for more details).

Often you may need to jump to a specific exact offset without changing the time position. One way to do it is to type the exact frequency as XXXX.XXXX and press ENTER. However, SPECTOR offers a faster way: you can move your mouse over the OFFSET BAR: the red flag displaying the exact offset is shown. You can now enter this frequency with a mouse click. And there is no need to position the mouse exactly over the correct offset of the SPECTOR peak: just move the mouse into the peak area, and JAGUAR will automatically adjust the offset shown/used in the jump, based on the exact peak offset.
